The Partnership
Big Apple Entertainments Group operates some of the UK’s most successful multi-use leisure venues. When they needed a trusted partner for two major projects—a new 16-lane installation in Wokingham and a complete refurbishment in Ryde—they chose MJH Events based on our reputation for delivering complex bowling projects within larger leisure developments.
Wokingham: New Build Excellence
The Wokingham project represented a significant investment: a brand-new building housing 16 bowling lanes integrated with bars, laser quest, arcades, and restaurants. MJH Events worked collaboratively with architects and builders from the project’s early stages, ensuring bowling infrastructure integrated seamlessly with the building’s design.
We managed the complete new bowling installation including foundations, synthetic lanes with string pinsetter systems, LED lighting, automatic bumpers, ball returns, and all associated equipment. The project demanded precise coordination—bowling infrastructure must be planned alongside structural, electrical, and mechanical systems to avoid costly conflicts during construction.
Ryde: Transformation Through Refurbishment
Simultaneously, we delivered a complete refurbishment of Big Apple’s Ryde venue. This established facility needed modernisation to compete effectively while maintaining its loyal customer base.
The refurbishment scope included upgrading lane surfaces, installing new equipment, improving lighting systems, and refreshing the entire bowling aesthetic. Our team’s experience with refurbishment projects ensured we minimised downtime—critical for a venue with existing league bookings and regular customers.
