The Opportunity
Portugal’s Algarve coast attracts millions of tourists annually, but Albufeira Marina needed an anchor entertainment venue that would keep visitors engaged beyond beach hours. An empty building within the new marina construction presented the perfect opportunity—if it could be transformed into a modern bowling centre that would appeal to both tourists and locals.
The challenge was creating a complete bowling facility from an empty shell, using fully refurbished equipment that would deliver new-build quality while managing costs effectively for the marina development.
The Solution
MJH Events managed every aspect of this commercial bowling installation in Portugal. Working with fully refurbished equipment, we created an 11-lane bowling centre that rivals new-build specifications.
Our scope included synthetic lanes with string pinsetter systems, new seating throughout, automatic bumpers, complete ball returns, gutters, cappings, foundations, scoring systems, and full equipment packages. The refurbished approach allowed us to deliver exceptional quality while optimizing the investment for a startup venture in a competitive tourism market.
The marina-front location demanded an aesthetic that would attract passing tourists while creating an atmosphere worth returning to. Every detail—from lane finishes to seating selection—was chosen to create a premium feel.
